The A-1 Comics Appearance Skinny
What’s happenin’ my Nice People!
Your resident pencil pusher here. I hope all is well in your world. I’m here to share my thoughts on my recent appearance at A-1 Comics here in Sacramento. As I am the artist of this little endeavor, I’m sure my reflections won’t be as embellished and entertaining as Big Mikey’s, but here goes…
First off, if you’re ever in Sacramento, I can’t emphasize enough the fine staff and selection at A-1. I’ve known Brian, the owner, for 15 years and you’d be hard pressed to find a better shop anywhere. During one of my regular visits, Brian mentioned that he wanted to do an event focusing on small press and the emerging options for aspiring creators to get their work seen. Knowing that Mike and I had recently launched the Nice Guy site, Brian invited me to represent the digital frontier of comics. Not being a complete idiot, I jumped at the chance.
Along with me, as you all know, was Dan Cooney, writer/artist of the action comic Valentine. A fine piece of work that you should all check out. We had a great time hanging out, talking art and visiting with the folks who came by to check things out. Since this was the Halloween party, Dan and I were lucky enough to be judges for the art and costume contests. Thanks for putting us on the spot Brian!
I also have to say ‘Hey’ to Sarah, quite possibly The Nice Guy’s #1 fan. It was great to get to meet you. When I’ve grown enough to be comfortable parting with my original art, I’ll be sure and let you know.
Thanks again to everyone who came out. I’m not sure when, but I’d love to do something like that again. If it happens, you guys will be the first to know. In the mean time, thanks for spreading the word about The Nice Guy! You’re the best promoters that we could possibly have.
